Behind the Scenes: Custom-made bus barriers

Earlier this month, Omnitrans resumed fare collection and front-door boarding. Both were halted in March to facilitate social distancing among customers and our coach operators to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the onset of the pandemic.
As always, fares and front-door boarding were not reinstated without safety at the top of our priority list. The video below shows how we were able to safely proceed with regular bus boarding practices with adjustable plexiglass barriers. Kudos to our talented maintenance staff for creating this custom bus barrier to minimize contact, and to our coach operators for embracing the “new normal.”
