Ride Free & Celebrate Car Free Day with Omnitrans this September 22
September 16, 2021
If you already ride the bus, thanks for doing your part to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce the carbon emissions entering the air we breathe. If you don’t, the great news is you can leave your car at home and try transit for FREE on Wednesday, September 22nd as the world rallies together to celebrate Car Free Day!
Users of the Transit app can take advantage of free unlimited rides on Wednesday, September 22nd only. The mobile app’s ticketing platform, powered by Token Transit, will not be charging for any tickets on this day. The Transit app is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play.
“Omnitrans offers a safe and convenient way to get around the Inland Empire area with connections to neighboring transit systems for broader access to Riverside County, Los Angeles County, and the Coachella Valley,” said Director of Marketing & Communications Nicole Ramos. “With more people returning to in-person school and work, Car Free Day is the perfect occasion to try out a more environmentally-conscious way to commute.”
How to access your free day pass:
- Download, or open, the free Transit app on your smartphone
- At the bottom of the screen, click the BUY TICKETS button
- You will receive a notification stating that your fare is not required in honor of Car Free Day
- Show this to your driver as you board the bus and enjoy your free day pass! (If you close your screen, tap the Buy Tickets button again if riding more than once.)
Don’t forget to mask up to board the bus and keep your mask on for the duration of your ride! If you get lucky, you might even get to ride one of our new 100% electric buses for extra Car Free Day points. To get started and plan your trip, check out the Trip Planner online.
