Since 2015, the San Bernardino Transit Center (SBTC) has united people with connections to destinations in the greater Southern California region. Through partnerships with neighboring transit agencies, the Center allows residents to travel from the Inland Empire to places like Beaumont/Calimesa, the San Bernardino Mountains, the High Desert, Orange County, and Los Angeles County!
This fall, Omnitrans is proud to celebrate the SBTC’s expanded connectivity by presenting the fourth annual SBTC Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest on Saturday, October 12, 2019! Join us as chalk artists make the concrete sidewalks of the San Bernardino Transit Center their canvas to display their colorful interpretations of “Unity in the Community.”
Community members of all ages and any skill level are welcome to participate and express their creativity with chalk. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first ($300), second ($150), and third place ($100) winners in the Adult (14+) category. Those 13 years of age or younger may take part in the art but will not be judged in the contest. Instead, they will receive a free movie ticket for participating!
In addition to vibrant works of chalk art, there will be giveaways, raffle items, music, refreshments, a food vendor, and the Street Glyphics Art Competition hosted by our community event partner, Untapped Hip-Hop. Untapped Hip-Hop is a magazine that promotes the positive influence of hip-hop on culture and art. Their Street Glyphics Art Competition celebrates the local art community of San Bernardino.
Chalk artists may check-in starting at 8:30 a.m., with the contest starting at 9 a.m. and spanning two hours through 11 a.m. Winners will be announced after a brief judging period.
So, do you think you have what it takes to win the grand prize? Go over the Official Rules, register now to reserve your spot, and we’ll see you at the SBTC!
