Proposed ConnectForward Plan

Omnitrans is proposing implementation of its ConnectForward service plan in September 2020 to prepare the agency for future regional transit needs and ensure long-term financial sustainability. The plan includes elements of route realignment, route elimination and the creation of new routes, and is designed to maximize efficiency while minimizing customer impact.

Route 1: Modify the northern section of this route to serve Pacific High School and shorten the turnaround loop to use Del Rosa instead of Golden. Additionally, new service will be provided to San Gorgonio High School.

Route 2: Reduce weekday and Saturday service from 60 minutes to 70 minutes, and on Sundays from 30 minutes to 70 minutes.

Route 3: Reduce weekend service from 20 minutes to 25 minutes.

Route 4: Reduce weekend service from 20 minutes to 25 minutes.

Route 5: Eliminate this route and incorporate service into new Routes 6 and 305.

NEW ROUTE | Route 6: Combine the northern portion of Route 5, above Highland, with the southern portion of Route 7, south of Highland on Sierra Way. This route will offer peak service every 30 minutes.

Route 7: Eliminate this route and incorporate service into new Route 6.

Route 8: Reduce weekday service from the VA Ambulatory Clinic to Downtown Redlands from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, keeping service between Downtown San Bernardino and the VA Ambulatory Clinic at 30 minutes.

Route 14: Reduce weekend service from 15 minutes to 20 minutes.

Route 20: Eliminate this route and incorporate service into Route 82.

Route 22: Reduce weekday service north of Foothill on Riverside from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, keeping service between Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Foothill (mostly along Riverside) at 30 minutes.

Route 29: Minor change at northern terminus near Sierra and Marygold to better serve Kaiser Hospital.

Route 61: Reduce weekend service from 15 minutes to 20 minutes.

Route 66: Reduce weekday service from 15 minutes to 20 minutes.

Route 80: Eliminate this route and incorporate service into new Route 87.

Route 81: Eliminate routing on Foothill, Aspen, and Red Oak. South of 4th Street, the route will no longer serve Ontario Mills, but service is available with a transfer to Route 61. The southern terminus (currently at the Chino Transit Center) changes to the East Ontario Metrolink Station. The route would no longer continue south of Mission or along Riverside.

Route 82: Re-route to travel on Citrus between Merrill and Slover instead of Sierra in Fontana to reduce duplicated service and cover areas currently covered by Route 20.

Route 83: Northern service ends at Foothill in Upland. Colonies Crossroads shopping center in Upland covered by new Route 383.

Route 84: Eliminate service north of 7th Street in Upland; adds service to Montclair Transit Center via 7th, Central, and Richton.

Route 86: Eliminate this route and incorporate service into new Route 87.

NEW ROUTE | Route 87: Combines the northern part of Route 80 between Chaffey College and 4th Street with the southern part of Route 86 between 4th Street and Riverside. Additionally, the route extends south of Riverside along Archibald to Ontario Ranch Road with an end-of-line near the San Bernardino and Riverside County Line. This route offers peak service every 60 minutes.

Route 290 (Freeway Express): Eliminate mid-day trips between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. only.

NEW ROUTE | Route 305: Combines the southern part of Route 5 along Waterman to Barton and adds coverage of the OmniGo Grand Terrace 325 service area along the business corridor of Barton between Waterman and I-215. This route offers peak service every 60 minutes. This route uses a smaller 16-passenger vehicle.

NEW ROUTE | Route 383: Replaces the northern sections of Routes 83 and 84 in Upland. The route begins at the Upland Metrolink Station, traveling north primarily on Campus to reach the Colonies Crossroads shopping center before turning back south to 16th Street, then heading west to Benson, before turning south to reach its end of line at the Montclair Transit Center. This route offers peak service every 60 minutes. This route uses a smaller 16-passenger vehicle.

OmniGo Yucaipa Route 308: Eliminate this route.

OmniGo Yucaipa Route 309: Reduce weekday service from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. No service on weekends.

OmniGo Yucaipa Route 310: Reduce morning peak service on weekdays from 30 minutes to 60 minutes; remains at 60 minutes all other times on weekdays.

OmniGo Grand Terrace Route 325: Eliminate this route and incorporate into new Route 305.

OmniGo Chino Hills Route 365: Eliminate this route and replace with MicroTransit program; keeping modified school tripper service near Chino Hills High School bell times.

NEW SERVICE | MicroTransit Chino Hills: Provide new technology-enabled, on-demand service in Chino Hills. MicroTransit is reservation-based, shared ride service, similar to Uber or Lyft. It will serve all customers, including those with disabilities, weekdays only, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Proposed fares are $5 per trip, with a day pass, for fixed route service. > Learn More

Beyond the Boundary Service

Proposed elimination of beyond-the-boundary service. Mobility options offered through Special Transportation Services (STS) department, including Volunteer Driver, Taxi RIDE, and Lyft RIDE.

Changes Based on Fixed Route

Reductions in the availability of ADA Access service in Chino Hills, South Ontario and Grand Terrace due to proposed fixed route changes. MicroTransit service is proposed to be added in Chino Hills, which is available to disabled passengers. Additional Access service will be provided in South Ontario.

Reduced Access Weekend Service in Yucaipa

With the elimination of weekend OmniGo service in Yucaipa, Access service would be similarly reduced.

Advanced Reservation Window

Proposed reduction of the advance reservation window up to 3 days in advance, instead of 7 days in advance to reduce number of no-shows.
