Omnitrans is excited to launch OmniRide – the San Bernardino Valley’s first-ever “microtransit” pilot service. Starting September 8, 2020, residents and commuters will be able to autonomously order their transit ride within the Chino Hills area (and parts of Chino), previously served by the eliminated OmniGo Route 365.

“It is exciting to implement this pilot project in Chino and Chino Hills to offer new, personalized service to the community,” said Omnitrans CEO/General Manager Erin Rogers. “Omnitrans is meeting the challenge of our region’s evolving transit needs.”

Using the free OmniRide On-Demand mobile app available on the App Store and Google Play, you will be able to reserve trips to and from any location within the OmniRide service area (map below). When you book your trip, the app guides you to the closest “virtual stop” for pick-up, typically a nearby intersection.

An OmniRide vehicle will arrive within 15 minutes for pick-up and proceed to another virtual stop, which will be another location close to your requested drop-off point, like Uber or Lyft service. Note: Those unable to use the mobile app may book by calling 909-383-1680.

OmniRide service is available to the public on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and vehicles are accessible to people with disabilities and mobility devices. Fare is $4 per single ride ($2 discounted fare for seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities) and includes an Omnitrans day pass for ease of transfer to traditional fixed-route bus service. OmniRide will connect to Omnitrans Route 83, 84, 85, and 88 for those traveling to the broader region.

Fare payment can be done by credit/debit card on the app, or in exact cash onboard. Early adopters of OmniRide will be able to take advantage of a free ride with their first OmniRide purchase during the month of September!

This is just one of many significant service changes implemented by Omnitrans on September 8th. In Chino Hills, a modified Route 365 will provide school tripper service when in-person teaching resumes. More detailed information is available in our Guide to September 2020 Service Changes.
