Rider Highlight January

January 27, 2025

Luis had always relied on Uber and Lyft to get around. He would book rides without a second thought for work, school, or his favorite spot—a comic book store in Redlands. But as the costs piled up, he wondered if there might be a better way. The idea of public transit wasn’t an easy sell. Growing up, Luis had been nervous about taking the bus, and convincing himself—and his mom—that it was worth a try was no small feat. One day, he decided to give it a shot. With Route 19 mapped out, leading straight to “A Shop Called Quest,” he set off on his first ride.

Anxiety bubbled up as he stepped on the bus, paid just $2.00, and found a seat. “If this doesn’t work,” he thought, “I can always call an Uber.” But as the bus cruised through its route and dropped him off a block from his destination, Luis realized something surprising—this worked. Now, Luis is a regular rider. Living in Rialto, he uses Omnitrans to get to work and wherever else he needs to go. “I wish I knew about this while I was in school,” he shared, praising the GoSmart program offering affordable student rides.

With Omnitrans, Luis isn’t just saving money—he’s reinvesting it in his passion for comics. “It’s easy, efficient, and cheap,” he said. And thanks to Route 19, his weekly trips to the comic book store are a breeze.

Every month, Omnitrans is proud to share stories like Luis’s, connecting with our riders and learning how we can continue improving service. Who will we meet next?
