Omnitrans Team Responds Quickly to Missing Child Report

On March 4th, at approximately 2 PM, Coach Operator Paul Camarillo was driving on Route 87 when a woman flagged him down at a stop. She informed him that her granddaughter was missing and was believed to be taking this route. Paul immediately contacted Dispatcher Reginald (Reggie) Jamerson II to report the situation.
Reggie quickly issued a service alert to all coach operators along Route 87 and its connecting routes, describing the missing child. For hours, operators remained vigilant, keeping an eye out as they drove their routes. Nearly five hours later, another coach operator on Route 87 spotted a child matching the description and alerted Dispatch. Reggie immediately relayed the update to the operators and field supervisor Kietta Surratt, who had been monitoring the situation. Understanding the urgency, Kietta responded without hesitation. “I have two daughters of my own, and I couldn’t imagine what I would do to keep them safe,” she later said. She quickly made her way to the Chaffey College stop in Rancho Cucamonga, where the coach operator had last seen the child.

As the bus reached its final stop at Chaffey College—where all passengers must exit—Kietta arrived to find the child lying on a bench. Meanwhile, Reggie remained in constant communication with both the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department and the coach operator to ensure a clear and coordinated response. Within minutes, Rancho PD arrived with the grandmother. Kietta stood by as officers safely reunited the child with her family.
