Omnitrans bus passes are moving into the digital age! To bring you a new, innovative way to ride the bus, starting today, you may purchase your Omnitrans bus passes on your smartphone. We have partnered with Token Transit, a free mobile app, to provide you with a simple, secure, and convenient way to experience Omnitrans.

It’s easy to do! Simply download the free Token Transit app from your respective app store – Google Play for Android or the App Store for iOS devices such as iPhone or iPad. How to get started:

  • Use the download link available in the Omnitrans app
  • Text “TOKEN” to 41411 for a download link
  • Download the app directly from Google Play or the App Store from your device
Create your account.

Once you’ve installed the app, a short series of prompts will help you set up your new account. Please note that purchasing mobile passes requires you to use your credit or debit card. Cash still can be used to purchase physical bus passes at our retail outlets.

Select your rider type, desired fare, confirm, and purchase your bus pass.

Purchasing a bus pass on Token Transit is simple. Select the fare that you want (single-ride, 1-day, 7-day, or 31-day pass) and your rider category (full fare, senior/disability, youth or veteran).

Purchased passes are stored in the Pass Wallet.

After you’ve made your transaction, your purchased passes are stored in the app’s Pass Wallet.

Activate your bus pass when ready to ride.

Activate your pass only once you’re ready to ride. The single-ride option will be active only for 30 minutes from point of activation. The period of use for all other passes (1-day, 7-day, and 31-day) begins at the time of activation.

Activated bus pass color, image, and keyword will change daily along with live time stamp.

Once ready to ride, all you need to do is show your phone to the driver when boarding the bus so they can see your activated pass on the screen. Easy!

  1. Do not purchase this new incentive because you cannot use it as a transfer to RTA, Foothill Transit and other transit buses. This is a disappointment.

    1. Sandra, per our agreements with connecting agencies, they must accept our mobile ticket/fares as proof of fare for transfers. Did RTA or Foothill Transit deny your transfer using your mobile pass? Let us know the details so we could address it with our agency partners. Sorry for the inconvenience!

    2. Ms. Southers I respectfully disagree with your opinion towards this new service being offered. I understand where your statement comes from. Having to face the situation of being denied by RTA transit is a critical issue that I hope OmniTrans can resolve for you. As for me (someone who uses OmniTrans locally) I could not be more satisfied. Not only has OmniTrans introduced a solution for my problem of having to search all around town for a retailer that has bus-fare passes for sale, they also release it with bus-fare prices 50% off! Yes my opinion is biased based on my experience, but yours is as well. So I completely recommend this service to everybody who rides with OmniTrans locally. Especially when a month pass that is $55 is cut down to $27.50 that is a no brainer. As far as your situation Ms. Souther I hope OmniTrans fixes your issue and informs not only yourself but releases a proper statement to the community with guidelines explaining the benefits with these new mobile-phone passes. Again, I cannot say it enough this is an amazing new service and I recommend it.

    1. Hi Karla. Your passes and payment information are linked to the account associated with your phone number; they are not linked to your physical phone. Logging in with your phone number on a new device will restore your previous pass and payment information.

  2. I never experience riding in a bus .. i want to try it since dont have a car right now ..question how does a 1 day or 7 day pass work? I mean how many bus ride to take on omnitrans are you allowed ? And what should I do if i have 2 little kids w me how can i buy pass for them if i use the apps thank you

    1. Hi Annie. 1-Day and 7-Day passes give you unlimited rides for 1 or 7 days after activating your pass. Children 46″ and under can ride for free. Let us know how your ride on Omnitrans goes!

      1. Thank you for the info. If the kids is over 46” how do i get their passes do ineed another phone w the apps onit to purchase theirs or can i buy it w my apps and how to show it w mine and w them thank you

        1. You can store multiple passes in your Pass Wallet (in your case, three total passes) within the Token Transit app – one for each individual. When you board, simply show the driver your three activated passes.
