Often, people wonder whether they are doing right by their boss, family members, or friends. Other times, your state senator gives you that affirmation and recognizes you for going above and beyond to serve your community!
Such was the case for Travel Trainer Ruby Sulca, who was recognized by State Senator Connie Leyva for going above and beyond to serve our community at two local resource fairs earlier this year.
“The unexpected recognition lets me know that I’m doing my job well,” says Ruby, gratefully. “I’m spreading the word to our community and helping those in need of our resources – seniors and adults living with disabilities. They are a big part of the community that we serve, and I am happy to be making a difference.”
Earlier this year, Omnitrans was invited via Ruby to attend two different senior health resource fairs, both in the same week, in Rancho Cucamonga and Montclair. Senator Leyva and her team supported both events and a field representative struck up a conversation with Ruby.
Ruby provided the senator’s team with resources, information, and copies of the Bus Book to help residents in our service area take advantage of the mobility resources provided by Omnitrans. They were happy to learn that Ruby could attend events and deliver presentations to seniors who could benefit from such resources.
At the second fair June 6th, Ruby was pleasantly surprised when she was recognized on stage by Senator Leyva for her efforts at both events that week. A few weeks later, Ruby received a signed Certificate of Recognition from the senator in the mail.
“Transportation is such a great need for the senior demographic,” says Ruby. “I always tell people that we are here to help make them more independent, or help them maintain their independence, through the programs we offer. I love customizing a program that fits their needs and positively impacts their quality of life on a daily basis.”
Omnitrans is proud to have Ruby on the team, and like Senator Leyva, appreciates her steadfast commitment and dedication to improving the quality of life of seniors and people living with disabilities throughout the San Bernardino Valley region!
