Omnitrans Climate Action Plan

Omnitrans signed on FTA for sustainable transit for a healthy planet challenge.

Omnitrans Climate Action Plan

Omnitrans remains steadfastly committed to our mission to connect our community with coordinated and sustainable transit services.  Since 2014, Omnitrans has been a signatory to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA)’s Sustainability Commitment. As a part of that commitment, Omnitrans’ internal staff Green Team tracks the Agency’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions annually and strives to implement the Agency’s sustainability goals and initiatives to lower Omnitrans’ GHG emissions.

In October 2021, Omnitrans signed onto the Federal Transit Administration (FTA)’s Sustainable Transit for a Healthy Planet Challenge, which calls on transit agencies to develop climate action strategies with measurable goals to build on the progress already made and further reduce GHG emissions. As part of Omnitrans’ participation in the Challenge, Omnitrans developed our first Climate Action Plan, which is available at the link below. The Climate Action Plan outlines the Agency’s GHG emission reduction goals and targets, the actions the agency will take to achieve the targets, and methods for tracking progress on goals and actions.

The goals and strategies outlined in the Climate Action Plan, as listed below, are in line with the goals in other Omnitrans plans, including the Omnitrans Strategic Plan 2021-2025, Annual Management Plan, OmniConnects Short-Range Transit Plan (2014), and Omnitrans Zero Emission Bus Rollout Plan (2020).
