Public Input Requested on Student Fare Program and Bloomington Microtransit Proposals

October 11, 2021

As demand for transit services evolves and transportation patterns change, it is important that we evolve and adapt; however, we can’t do it alone. We need your input! OmniTrans staff is seeking public feedback on two service proposals this fall – OmniRide microtransit service in Bloomington and continuation of the Free Fares for School pilot program.

OmniRide Bloomington

OmniTrans proposes implementation of a new microtransit service, OmniRide Bloomington, to cover the unincorporated community of Bloomington and surrounding areas. Implementation of this on-demand, rideshare service would replace the current fixed-route bus, Route 329, serving this area. The new service would increase connectivity to south Fontana, Colton at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Agua Mansa, and large logistics employment centers in Bloomington. OmniRide Bloomington would also serve as the ADA paratransit service provider within the boundary area.

Free Fares for School

In August 2021, OmniTrans implemented a six-month pilot program granting all K-12 students free rides on OmniTrans buses with their valid student ID. The six-month pilot would end February 6, 2022. OmniTrans seeks the public’s input on the potential continuation of Free Fares for School through the remainder of Fiscal Year 2022 (ending June 2022).
