Rider Spotlight: Sandra’s Omnitrans Story

Sandra has been riding Omnitrans since 1978, and over the decades, it has become much more than just a way to get around. She calls it her “limousine ride” through life.
Recently, Sandra shared with us a memorable experience on Route 312, one of her favorite routes. She mentioned how the driver recognized her and greeted her with warmth, even asking how she was doing. Although riders aren’t supposed to chat with drivers, she and the operator exchanged a few words about Route 305 and the Yucaipa area, which hold a special place in Sandra’s heart. “She knew the areas I mentioned,” Sandra wrote. “It was so awesome.”
Sandra also told us about her longtime involvement with our annual Stuff the Bus event benefiting the Spark of Love foundation. She has attended every year the weather allowed and has gotten to know many Omnitrans drivers over the years, including one who currently drives Route 82 and has been a friendly, familiar face for a long time.
One of Sandra’s favorite photos shows Route 19 and Route 61 buses together. That moment stood out to her because those numbers match the year she was born.
We are incredibly grateful to Sandra for sharing her story and for being such a dedicated member of the Omnitrans community. Riders like Sandra remind us of the meaningful connections public transit can create, not just between places, but between people.
