Employee of the Quarter Christina Gaeta
June 22, 2021
Dispatch Supervisor Christina Gaeta has led the charge on implementation of several procedures that have reduced the amount of lost bus service, which has positively impacted the agency and greatly benefited our customers who rely on us to get to their destinations.
Because of the procedures enacted by Christina, the Operations team rarely resorted to calling in staff on their days off. Christina has also worked cross-functionally with the IT department and Trapeze software to successfully implement a much-needed communication tool for coach operators to enhance the flow of information between management and our frontline staff.
Christina routinely goes above and beyond to promote teamwork and enhance morale within her department, and thanks to her oversight and direction, the agency has realized significant cost savings and a boost in morale among dispatchers.
Get to know Christina:
How many years have you worked at Omnitrans?
I started out as a coach operator in 2009, and quickly sought new opportunities within the agency, including relief shift supervisor and coach operator instructor. I was selected as one of the original sbX rapid transit operators when service launched in 2014, and I was promoted to Dispatch Supervisor in 2017, which is the role I am currently in.
What do you enjoy best about working at Omnitrans?
The interaction with so many other departments to achieve objectives and training new employees is the best part of the job.
What is your most memorable moment here?
My first time participating in the Omnitrans Bus Roadeo competition was memorable. I come from a competitive family, and I won the Turtle Award (for slowest obstacle course completion time). It was a funny moment, but still, one of the best of my times here.
What are some of the achievements you are most proud of?
Advancing my professional development by graduating from the Leadership Development Academy and obtaining a Transit Management Certificate from University of the Pacific.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Attending, coaching, and being part of my daughter’s sports teams.
