On February 1st, Roger Spotten was selected and presented as one of the Employees of the Year (2022) at the Board of Directors meeting. Assistant Transportation Manager, Mike Di Fonzo had this to say about Roger and why he deserves Employee of the Year.

• Roger Spotten is a valuable member of the Operations team. He willingly helps when dispatch identifies a route service interruption and is looking for assistance. He knows all routes within our network and has extended his shift and or volunteered for additional assignments to ensure service reliability. While at Omnitrans, Roger wears a few different hats. For example, he is a Coach Operator Instructor (COI) who is patient with his students, teaching and instructing them, and is a trained sbX operator, which is helpful in the event an sbX shift becomes open. Roger is approachable with all he comes in contact with, his co-workers, dispatchers, supervisors, managers, other departments, passengers, the public, etc., and always maintains a professional manner treating others with respect. Each day he arrives to work early, in proper uniform with a smile and good attitude, ready to safely transport people to their destination.

How long have you worked at Omnitrans? 6 Years.

What did you do before coming to Omnitrans? I drove for mountain transit. 

What do you like best about working for Omnitrans? I like the fact that there is job security and being able to provide service to the public. The equipment is serviced well, and the way employees are treated (for example, Super Bowl party, holiday gift certificates, etc.). Also, I like that Omnitrans hires from within the company.

What is your most memorable moment on the job? Being a COI training new students, sharing my knowledge, and teaching new coach operators.

What are your most notable accomplishments? Be a COI, Employee of the quarter, and employee of the year. 

Do you have any hobbies when you’re not working? I like to travel with my wife to visit national parks and go hiking and exploring. I also like football.

Anything you would like others to know about you. Enjoy coming to work with a positive attitude, and willingness to help others.
