Coach Operator Manuel Acosta is recognized for providing excellent customer service during a challenging time for everyone in our communities. His dedication to going above and beyond has earned him several agency commendations on behalf of customers, as well as the respect and admiration of his peers.

Manuel demonstrates a positive attitude and uplifting sense of teamwork by volunteering to help cover shifts and work on his scheduled days off when necessary. Over the last quarter, Manuel stepped forward many times to keep buses in service past the end of his shift or pick up a piece of bus service to ensure that no customers were left without transportation.

Manuel has exemplified outstanding values through his safety practices and excellent, customer-focused service and leadership.

How long have you worked at Omnitrans?

I have been a coach operator at Omnitrans for 20 years.

What do you like best about working for Omnitrans?

I like the good benefits, and the way that management has been there for me over the years. For example, management listened to operators’ safety concerns at the start of COVID-19 and quickly responded by installing plexiglass driver barriers on all buses.

What is your most memorable moment on the job?

The most memorable moment on the job was meeting my wife Irene, who works here in Customer Service.

What is your most notable achievement?

Joining the 1 Million Mile Club in 2016 for safe driving record.

Do you have any hobbies when you’re not working?

I take on DIY home improvement projects with my wife Irene, play softball, and love attending Dodger games.
